HTC Scorpion, 1.5Ghz and Android 2.2?

So noone is sure how real this may be, but apparently some devs did some ROM searching and found some interesting information inside a particular ROM:

# begin build properties
# autogenerated by buildinfo.sh
ro.build.id=FRE65C
ro.build.display.id=htc_scorpion-userdebug 2.2 FRE65C eng.xxxxx.20100206 test-keys
ro.build.version.incremental=26741
ro.build.version.sdk=8
ro.build.version.codename=REL
ro.build.version.release=2.2
ro.build.date=Sat Feb 6 13:42:06 CST 2010
ro.build.date.utc=1264645720
ro.build.type=userdebug
ro.build.user=u40000
ro.build.host=builder00101
ro.build.tags=test-keys
ro.product.model=HTC Olympian
ro.product.brand=generic
ro.product.name=htc_scorpion
ro.product.device=scorpion
ro.product.board=cortex1.5ghz
ro.product.cpu.abi=armeabi-va8c
ro.product.cpu.abi2=armeabi
ro.product.manufacturer=HTC
ro.product.locale.language=mdpi
ro.product.locale.region=
ro.board.platform=qsd8672
# ro.build.product is obsolete; use ro.product.device
ro.build.product=scorpion
# Do not try to parse ro.build.description or .fingerprint
ro.build.description=1.47.3.2 CL2***** test-keys
ro.build.changelist=2*****
ro.build.modelid=DF4732***
ro.build.fingerprint=generic/htc_scorpion/scorpion/scorpion:2.2/FRE65C/26741:userdebug/test-keys
keyguard.no_require_sim=1
# end build properties
#
# system.prop for scorpion
#

ro.sf.lcd_density=240

#
ro.home.ui.defualt.=0
ro.home.ui.media.scorpion.=1
ro.home.ui.sense.=0
ro.home.ui.define.=0
#

#
rild.libpath=/system/lib/libhtc_ril.so
wimax.interface = tiwlan0
# Time between scans in seconds. Keep it high to minimize battery drain.
# This only affects the case in which there are remembered access points,
# but none are in range

So the important lines here are:

ro.product.board=cortex1.5ghz – This tells us it has a Cortex 1.5Ghz processor
ro.product.model=HTC Olympian – This would most likely be the HTC Codename
ro.product.name=htc_scorpion – This would most likely be the products shipping name.
ro.build.version.release=2.2 – This would indicate Android 2.2 (Froyo?)
ro.build.id=FRE65C – The build ID (the current Nexus One build is ERE27 so this would make sense)
keyguard.no_require_sim=1 – Tells me that at least the model being worked on is unlocked as it doesn’t require a SIM to work.

Again who knows how legit this is, but seems promising. Also makes me think 2.2 will be coming sooner than later at least.

Anyone see anything else of interest in the above code?

  1. Aha! You left out the most interesting line:

    ro.carrier = Sprint – This means Verizon et. al., can suck it!

    /wishing.

  2. Maybe when this ROM is leaked, you could apply that ROM to your Nexus One and overclock it to 1.5 Ghz. Actually, there’s a thread on the XDA-Developers forum where they share a code that overclocks the G1 (Dream/Dev Phone 1) up to 780 Ghz. So why not overclock from 1.0 to 1.5?

  3. I hope t-mobile will get this so they can officially say that they have the G2!!!! The mytouch slide is going to suck anyway since the specs are the same except it has the 32A board instead of 32B.

    But I think it will ship with Android 2.1 (since all android phones so far not including the nexus one has a slightly outdated version) and they will say this phone can be upgradeable to Android 2.2

    And forget this device will most likely have HTC SENSE. 😀

  4. This line seems interesting:

    wimax.interface = tiwlan0

    Does that mean this phone would support WIMAX?

    Who needs wimax besides Sprint? Is this the long awaited Hero replacement?

  5. TheUnlockr: Just wondering why most of the time it takes about 1/2 a day or longer for my posts to show… Case and point… The post above was posted last night… And I was not able to see it till early this afternoon… I know it’s partially related to the different servers… But it seems to be happening more and more… Mostly “waiting approval”… Just wonder…

    Also… I know u’r a busy guy with work + this site + life.. But would like to pick your brain regarding contracts & TMobile vs. ATT & out of contract & phones & stuff… Should I do it in the forum in the “All Carriers in General” or “Off-Topic” ???

    1. Y314K,

      Not sure, why it takes so long. It could be timing on when I check the comments lol But honestly you are on auto-approve so the only time I have to manually approve your comments are if you post a link (the system automatically flags them).
      Post a comment in here if you think it’s sorta relevant:
      https://theunlockr.com/2009/09/17/how-contracts-work-and-why-they-arent-so-bad/

      I say post a comment because the forums don’t notify me of new posts like the comments do lol

  6. TheUnlockr: Finally got around to posting over at the “Contracts” post… Please let me know if you need any more info or if you prefer to communicate thru email or messaging… Just email me to thru the email I use to do the reply’s… Thanks…
