How To: Bypass Activation on the HTC MyTouch 3G

I. Before You Begin
1. This procedure was sent in by a reader and has not been tested by us.
II. Bypass Activation
1. So the concept here is pretty simple… Leave the phone on until it is about to die.
2. Once it starts to die, the “I’m dying” warning will pop up.
3. When it does pop up, click Why? and it will take you to a screen showing you the different features causing your phone to die.
4. Click on the Phone on Standby one and it should take you to the Settings menu.
5. Once in the Settings menu, turn on WiFi and connect to a Wifi network.
6. Now, hit home and login using your Gmail information to get past the activation screen. Enjoy!

Reported Issues:
Issue: Doesn’t let me use my existing Gmail account.
Solution: Choose to create a new one, then once you get to the normal home screen, you can go in and add another Google account and sign in with your existing account.
You can also bypass the Log In screen by tapping the corners from left to right in a circle.
As far as I know, that only works on Verizon phones. Anyone confirm that to work on a MyTouch?

does the sim card have to be inserted? I heard that if you have the sim card in that tmobile will recognize that you are using a 3g phone and charge your account for the data plan that month since you ‘need’ it for the phone.

I tried this method of bypassing just to try it out, unfortunately the “Why?” does not show up. Wanted to let you know that on the MyTouch 3G, this method is a ruse.

Use someone else’s 3g enabled sim. Sign in with your account. Switch the sims back. the end.
i click standby and nothing happens it does take me to setting
I found something out about this, actually I flashed to stock 1.5 (like in the rooting process) and thats when the why came up. if it didn’t work for you then I am sorry.
So if you have no access how did you flash back to the 1.5 OS that just is not possible.as you have to have USB Debug enabled.

im pissed dont know n e one to use 3g sim card tried err thing else and im still locked out no option setting nothing im fucked plus my service provider is even the phones orignal igot simple mobile on tmobile 3g mytouch
