How To: Update Your Samsung Vibrant to Android 2.2
So the wait is over for you non-rooted Vibrant owners (if you were rooted you could have flashed a custom ROM with 2.2 a while ago, of course). Here is how to install the official Android 2.2 update for your Vibrant.
I. Before You Begin
1. This is only for NON ROOTED STOCK VIBRANT owners, if you are rooted, simply flash a custom ROM.
2. You need a Windows computer (32 or 64 bit are both fine)
3. This COULD ERASE YOUR DATA. Please backup anything you don’t want to lose just in case.
II. Download the Samsung Flashing Software (Kies)
1. Download the flashing software and save it to your computer.
2. Double click the .exe file you just download and follow the prompts to install it.
III. Device Setup
1. On your phone click on Menu > Settings > Applications > USB Settings and select Ask on Connection.
2. Then plug the phone in via USB and select Samsung Kies on the phone when it pops up. This should begin driver installations.
IV. Performing the Upgrade
1. Open Samsung Kies on the computer.
2. Select Phone Upgrade and follow the on screen prompts to upgrade the phone.

I rooted my phone and was still able to get the official updates and is better you have win xp 32 bit.
i tried this and all i get is either “unregistered device” or failed to connect to the model information center”
I did the update now I cant root! Babez_ph did u register ur device with samsung cuz u need to cuz I had the same problem
i did the 2.2 update and now i cannot re-root. is there something different i need to do?
well i did all the step above but i can get to the update cause kies says that my device is unsupported any help on that??? appreciated
