T-Mobile G2X overclocked to a blistering fast 1.5GHz on Froyo

In many instances, a single-core 1GHz processor would be more than enough for your average Android device – be it running a heavy-duty game or watching a HD movie.  But for the ones who want to test the limits of their smartphones, we will always have the devs to aid them in that quest.  The same is the case now with the T-Mobile G2X, an already superfast dual-cored LG smartphone, which can now be cranked up to an insanely high (for a phone, obviously) 1.5GHz clockspeed on the stock Tegra2 1GHz CPU via a custom kernel.

This kernel is only compatible with Android 2.2 (custom and stock), so if you are on Gingerbread, have a look around the XDA G2X forums and you will eventually find one that supports OC.  The installation is also pretty easy if you are familiar with words like “flashing” and “ClockworkMod”  – just reboot to ClockworkMod recovery, clear cache, and run the zip file you have downloaded.

Needless to say, you could end up with a fried droid that warranty won’t cover and as useful as a paperweight – so tread on at your own risk.

I have got the trinity kernel for the 1.56ghz OC, im not 100% on how to install it, is it boot into clockworkmod, wipe cache partition, and then install zip from sd card? I just rooted my phone and am still figuring this out, any help would be greatly appreciated.
