Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 gets its first taste of Gingerbread

When the Xperia X10 was released last March, the first ever Droid from Sony Ericsson was munching on the Donut and the company was faced with the wrath of many an irate customer demanding more from his smartphone when Froyo 2.2 was officially cancelled.  With this direct hop to Android 2.3, Sony Ericsson has redeemed itself many times over and X10 users need to resort to custom ROMs no more.  The update is on its way to unlocked devices across the world and it seems that carrier-branded versions will have to hold on a bit more until service providers are done tinkering with the update before pushing it out.

The update is available in the UK, Italy, France and Germany currently – more territories are being covered gradually, if not already covered by now, but be sure to confirm with the update tool from Sony Ericsson.
