Sprint Epic 4G most likely getting Gingerbread update on November 9th
The QWERTY-toting Samsung device released on Sprint last September has been munching on Froyo for too long – just ask its users and they’ll tell you better than us. Anyways, Sprint is planning on changing this and if things go as planned, Epic 4G users across the country should be seeing that welcome notification asking them to update their device to Gingerbread 2.3 in a few horus. If that doesn’t happen, they better check manually just to be sure before continuing on with Android 2.2 with a lot of grumbling.
As for the next obvious step, Ice-Cream Sandwich, the Epic 4G sure has the innards to support the update but will Sprint/Samsung take the step forward and get it to the device? That’s a question we’ll ask once the Android 2.3 update finishes its term.
