Asus Claims They Will Be The First To Release Android 5.0 “Jelly Bean”

Despite Google’s latest OS, Ice Cream Sandwich, living up to most of our expectations, we can’t help but wonder what Android 5.0 has in store for the future. We’re also left wondering who will be the first manufacturer to provide it to the eager masses. Well, Asus has always managed to be the fastest as they released Ice Cream Sandwich on a tablet well before anyone else in the industry did. Asus is also notorious for staying on top of their updates, much to the content of their loyal consumer base. Makes sense as according to Benson Lin, Asus’ Corporate Vice President, their tight-knit relationship with Google is to thank for such timely updates. That close partnership may also pave the way for Asus to be the first to release Android 5.0, or as Lin called it, “Jelly Bean.”

“Asus is very close to Google, so once they have Android 5.0 I think there will be a high possibility that we will be the first wave to offer the Jelly Bean update.”

Tell us, do you think Asus will be the first out of the gate to bring us Android 5.0? More importantly, who else is in the mood for some jelly beans now?

  1. I have a feeling it’s pretty far off considering how they took their time with ICS and the fact that it’s a number higher (5 instead of 4.1, 4.2, etc.), no? With that said, without knowing any features about it whatsoever, I know I want it…
