Android 4.0.4 Update Rolling Out Now for HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus, GSM Nexus S, and Motorola Xoom WiFi

Let the celebration commence for anyone who owns a HSPA+ Samsung Galaxy Nexus (I9250) or a UMTS / GSM Nexus S (I9020) device as Google has just announced a very important update is headed your way. Appropriately confirmed on Google+,  the company did announce that Android 4.0.4 is rolling out to these smartphones in addition to the Motorola Xoom WiFi tablet.

Earlier leaks had the Nexus S receiving the update during the beginning of April, but we’re happy to see that Google was able to push it out by month’s end. Many Nexus S owners found themselves frustrated when they weren’t able to download ICS before Google decided to pull the update back in December. Happy as the update news may be, it appears that the device’s CDMA variants will not be receiving any update love at this time. No explanation as to why, but here’s what Google did say about the update:

We’ve started rolling out Android 4.0.4, Ice Cream Sandwich, to UMTS/GSM Nexus S, Xoom Wi-Fi, and HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus devices, and we’ll be rolling it out to more devices in the coming weeks. Some of you will be receiving Ice Cream Sandwich for the first time, while others will be receiving an update to your existing Ice Cream Sandwich experience with stability improvements, better camera performance, smoother screen rotation, improved phone number recognition and more.

Happy updating!
