iOS App of the Day: BoardVantage Collaborate

As iPad sales continue to dominate the tablet market many companies are introducing iPads into the workplace as their go-to business tool. The integration of iPads in the corporate world has created a unique opportunity for some developers to focus simply on large corporations. The BoardVantage Collaborate app is a perfect example of how business meetings can now be facilitated using only an iPad. The app is programmed with extensive security policies and makes it entirely possible to have an entire board meeting and store all of the meeting’s sensitive information within the app’s secure platform. While the app is free to download it will require a subscription to use.

How it works:
Once the app has been set up with your company documents the user can access centralized location for the current meeting in progress. At the top you will see photos of all the attendees participating in the meeting and with a tap on their picture you can initiate a dialogue with that board member. Below the attendee’s photos you will have easy access to all of your committee books, or otherwise known as boardbooks. To access a specific book simply tap on the book image that you want and you can access all of the documents that are part of that binder. You can scroll up and down each document and click on links to view more specific related material. True to iPad fashion you can make individual text notations or highlight sections of each document that will remain private. Additional features of the BoardVantage app can be seen below:
  • Timeline allows directors to instantly access prior, current, and future meetings. To view a specific meeting just tap on the date found on the timeline and the meeting will appear immediately for your review.
  • Document repository allows directors to review past meeting materials and documents including charters, agendas, minutes, resolutions, and bylaws.
  • Discussions allows the executive team to communicate frequently with members of the board. Directors can post information, links, and documents to an entire group or facilitate a one-on-one conversation with a board member.
  • Directory is a complete listing of board members and executives. You can tap on the person’s profile to gain access to their contact information or start a dialogue with that individual.
Conclusion:
BoardVantage Collaborate for the iPad is the perfect solution for directors or administrators looking for a business tool that can facilitate secure meetings without the bulk anywhere at anytime. This app beautifully combines the iPad’s rich media features with a robust list of functional tools sure to help you get through your meeting. If you happen to be a CIO in the market for a must have app for the head honchos in your company, then BoardVantage Collaborate is an app worth looking into.
