How to Import and Export Contacts on your Android Phone
If you have important contacts on your Android phone, then you should export them to your SD card in case they get erased from your phone. Here’s how you can do it.
I. Exporting Contacts on your Android Phone:
1. Open Contacts on your phone from the homescreen by tapping its icon.
[ Tap the Contacts icon ]
2. Press the Menu key on your phone and you will be presented with some options.
[ Press Menu, Choose Import/Export ]
3. Choose the Import/Export option from the menu.
4. You will see some of the options regarding where you want to export your contacts. Select the Export to SD card option.
[ Choose Export to SD card ]
5. A prompt will appear asking you to confirm your action, hit the OK button.
[ Hit the OK button ]
The export operation of contacts will start and within a few seconds, you will have all the contacts saved on your SD card.
II. Importing Contacts on your Android Phone:
1. Tap the Contacts icon from your phone’s homescreen.
[ Tap the Contacts icon ]
2. Press the Menu key on your phone and a menu will appear on your screen.
[ Press Menu, Choose Import/Export ]
3. Choose Import/Export from the menu.
4. Now select Import from SD card option from the list.
[ Choose Import from SD card ]
5. It will ask you where you want to save the imported contacts, select Phone.
[ Select Phone option ]
It will begin importing contacts to your phone and once it is done, you will be able to see all the contacts which Export file had in it.
Will the old sd card from the previous phn still show any information..does anything get left behind.
Export Import icon not coming. Previously used to come but after updating to Android 4.2.2 it is not available. Can you please let me know the reason. My phone is samsung Galaxy Grand.
It seems the feature’s been removed from the newer version of Android.
