Verizon Galaxy Nexus Receives CM10 Preview Build: Download Up For Grabs Now

We’ve all been patiently (or if you’re like me, impatiently) awaiting for a CyanogenMod 10 preview to hit the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, and it looks like our wait is finally over. Brint Kriebel, the CM manager for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, unleashed the good news on Google+ today announcing that a preview build was ready and up for flashing now.

Kriebel does reiterate that this is only a preview build and not an official release, which means to brace yourself for the expected bugs. The good news is that all the key elements of the device are working. Also keep in mind it’s a pure AOSP build, so there won’t be any Google Apps with this preview. Here’s what Kriebel had to say in his own words:

Since all the cool kids are doing it, I’m releasing a preview CM10 build for my device – the Verizon Galaxy Nexus (toro). I’m sure you’ve seen the other CM10 build disclaimers: this is not a release build, please do not file bugs on this, etc., etc.; all of that applies here as well.

Even so, +CyanogenMod 10 has been the daily driver on my phone for the last couple of weeks now. A lot (but not all) of the CM9 features are in place, and hardware support (camera, data, nfc, etc.) should all be working.

If coming from any other ROM (including CM9), a full wipe/factory reset is highly recommended. From CM9, you can try a non-wipe upgrade, but that has certainly not been tested to any extent.

Enjoy!

As always, don’t forget to back your device up before you get your flash on and let us know how the preview build is treating you. Interested readers can grab the build at the download link below.
