How to Unroot the HTC Droid Incredible S
HTC RUU (ROM Update Utility) allows you to easily get the HTC smartphones back to stock firmware without any hassle of doing geeky tasks. That seems to be an advantage of HTC smartphones and it’s useful for the users who often modify system files on their devices. The following guide shows all the required steps you should follow to unroot your HTC Droid Incredible S and take it back to the stock firmware so you can have the feeling that you had when you newly bought your device.
I. Before You Begin:
1. You should have rooted your device using the procedure given here.
2. The warranty that you lost after rooting your device will be reinstated after following the steps given below.
3. The following procedure works on Windows based PCs only.
II. Downloading Required Files:
1. Official RUU (Download link’s given in the first post)
III. Unrooting the HTC Droid Incredible S:
1. Download the Official RUU file to the Desktop of your PC.
2. Turn ON USB debugging on your device by going to Menu>>Settings>>Applications>>Development>>USB debugging, tick-mark the box.
3. Connect your device to the PC using the USB cable.
4. Right-click on the RUU file you just downloaded and click Run as administrator.
5. You should have a wizard on your screen guiding you to flash the stock firmware on your device. Follow all the instructions displayed on your screen.
6. Finally, you will have an unrooted HTC Droid Incredible S smartphone.
Great ! You have successfully unrooted your HTC device and now it runs on the Official Stock Firmware with no modifications and only pure Android things you always loved !
