Sony Confirms Xperia Jelly Bean Upgrades Will Begin Mid-Q1 for Select 2012 Phones, Sorry 2011 Phones No Jelly Bean For You

Sony has been back and forth with the future of their Jelly Bean update schedule so much that it has been difficult to follow. After numerous consumer questions to hit Sony’s blog and support forums the company is finally ready to give us an answer. Sadly, the answer may not be what most Sony owners were looking for.

Good news for owners of  the Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V, as you can expect to receive the update in the middle of 2013’s first quarter, which translates to  February.  Sony’s blog continued to confirm that the Xperia S, Xperia acro S, Xperia ion, Xperia P, Xperia go and Xperia J would also receive the update at a later date.

Unfortunately, that’s where the good news ends, as not a single 2011 Xperia phone will be upgraded to Jelly Bean. Reportedly, Sony was “not able to guarantee” the experience the 2011 devices would have once upgraded. While we didn’t expect every 2011 model to receive the Jelly Bean update, we are surprised that not even the Xperia Arc S will see the light of the newer OS.
