How to Unroot the HTC Wildfire S

Just like any other HTC smartphone, you can unroot the HTC Wildfire S using the Shipped/Stock ROM that will restore your device back to stock and with the help of Fastboot, you can relock the bootloader. It reinstates the warranty you lost during the root process and allows you to begin modifying your device once again from scratch. So, let’s see how to unroot the HTC Wildfire S.

I. Before You Begin:

1. You should have rooted your device using the procedure given here.

2. The following procedure works on Windows based PCs only.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Stock ROM (Download the appropriate RUU for your device from the list)

2. Fastboot

III. Relocking Bootloader of the HTC Wildfire S:

1. Place both the files you downloaded to the Desktop. It will help you find them easily later.

2. Unzip files from the Fastboot archive to your Desktop. You will have adb.exe and fastboot.exe along with some other files.

3. Turn OFF your device.

4. Reboot it into the bootloader mode. To do that, press and hold the Volume DOWN+Power buttons together and you should be in the bootloader mode.

5. Select Fastboot option from the bootloader menu.

6. Connect the device to your PC using the USB cable.

7. Open a Command Prompt Window on your Desktop. To do so, simply press and hold the Shift key on your keyboard and right-click on any empty area on the screen, then choose Open command window here.

8. Enter the following command into the Command Prompt Window:

fastboot oem lock

9. It should relock the bootloader of your device.

10. Reboot your device into the bootloader mode by typing in the following command:

fastboot reboot

11. You’re done with relocking the bootloader !

The bootloader has now been relocked and you can use the RUU to get back to stock. Here’s how you can do so.

IV. Unrooting the HTC Wildfire S:

1. Turn OFF your device so you can enter the bootloader mode.

2. While your device is turned OFF, press and hold the Volume DOWN+Power buttons together.

3. Choose Fastboot mode from the options you have on the screen.

4. Connect the device to your PC using the USB cable.

5. Double-click the Stock ROM (RUU) file you downloaded.

6. Follow the instructions displayed on your screen.

7. You’re now unrooted !

Awesome! You have successfully relocked the bootloader of your device as well as unrooted the device. It didn’t take much time to get back to stock to enjoy the most stable performance!

  3. My phone (htc wildfire s) is rooted and s-on. Android version 2.3.5. HTC sense version 2.1 Software number 2.26.401.3. Baseband version47.23e.35.3038H_7.57.39.10M. I downloaded this file http://htcfanboys.com/download/rawdealer/files/HTC%20Wildfire%20S/Official%20RUU/ (looked that this is the right file for the job). Setup crashed (error) “plesase download the correct ROM” now i’m confused. What to do. I’m not pro in these things so i don’t know how to get my phone back to stock. Please help

  4. I rooted my HTC wildfire s and I installed jelly bean (CyanogenMod) …but now due to space prob I want to bring back my phone to stock ROM …now by this procedure can I remove CyanogenMod t0o?????????
