How to Unroot the Huawei U8160

Huawei U8160, also known as Vodafone 858 smart, is a medium range smartphone that provides features that a medium user would look for. Having a 528 MHz smartphone and 256 MB RAM, it can’t actually run those resource-intensive games and apps, normal apps and games would work just fine, though. If you’ve rooted your device to try out custom ROMs or new apps but not fairly impressed, it’s time to get back to the stock ROM. Here’s how you can unroot your Huawei U8160 smartphone.

I. Before You Begin:

1. You should have rooted your device using the guide given here.

2. You must have a SD card formatted in FAT32 filesystem.

3. Make sure your device has enough battery so it can last through the entire process. It should have at least 60% of battery life left.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Stock ROM (Download link’s given in the first post)

III. Unrooting the Huawei U8160:

1. Download and place the Stock ROM file on your Desktop. This will make it easier to find the file in later steps.

2. Extract files from the Stock ROM archive. You should get a folder called dload.

3. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable.

4. Transfer the dload folder from your Desktop over to the root folder of your device’s SD card.

5. Disconnect the device after the file has been transferred.

6. Turn OFF your device.

7. Reboot your device in the update mode. To do so, press and hold the Volume UP+Red+Power buttons together.

8. It should begin flashing the Stock ROM file you transferred earlier and a progress bar will be shown on your screen.

9. When the flashing finishes, reboot your device.

10. And you’re now back to stock!

Cheers! The Stock ROM has successfully been flashed on your device and it’s unrooted, of course.
