How to Unroot the HTC EVO V 4G (Virgin)

If you’re sending your phone to the service center for any warranty kind of purpose, it is recommended that you unroot it first. Unrooting the Virgin HTC EVO V 4G is not as complicated as some of you might think and to give you a hand, here we are with the complete guide on how you can unroot your device. Let’s get started.

I. Before You Begin:

1. You should have rooted your device using the guide given here.

2. Since the process will take some good time, charge your device to have at least 70% of battery life left.

3. Make sure you have drivers for your device installed on your PC.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. RUU (Download link’s given in the first post, under first section)

2. Fastboot

III. Unrooting the Virgin HTC EVO V 4G:

1. Download and place both the files on your Desktop.

2. Extract files from the Fastboot archive to your Desktop. This should give you fastboot.exe along with some other files.

3. Turn OFF your smartphone using the Power button.

4. While your device is turned OFF, press and hold Volume DOWN+Power buttons together.

5. Your device should boot into HBOOT mode.

6. From the HBOOT menu, select Fastboot.

7. Connect the device to your PC using USB cable.

8. Open a Command Prompt Window on the Desktop of your PC. To do so, press and hold the Shift button on your keyboard and right-click on any empty area on the screen, then choose Open command window here.

9. Type in following command into the Command Prompt Window:

fastboot oem lock

10. It should relock the bootloader of your device.

11. Keep your device connected to your PC in Fastboot mode.

12. Now, double-click on the RUU executable file you downloaded earlier.

13. Follow the on-screen instructions.

14. You should be unrooted now!

Brilliant! Your smartphone is now back to stock, no root access, no custom recovery, nothing. It is just as pure as it was when you took it out of the box!
