Google’s Currents App Possibly Responsible For Nexus 7 Lag After Android 4.2 Update, XDA Member Finds A Fix

Many Nexus 7 owners were excited to update their device to Android 4.2 only to discover that their tab would suffer from serious lag issues. Google has yet to acknowledge the problem leaving users to research and find a solution on their own.Thankfully a XDA forum member has appeared to have discovered a simple fix and is pointing the blame towards the Google Currents app. After publishing the fix various XDA forum member and Reddit readers support that it indeed works and solves the annoying lag.

  1. Open your app drawer
  2. Open Google Currents
  3. Click the three dots in the top right corner of the app
  4. Tap “Settings”
  5. Uncheck “Enable Background Sync”
  6. Reboot your Nexus 7
