Google Reportedly Working On A Google Now Widget, Details Leak on Support Page
Beyond the Android 4.2.2 update that is rolling out now OTA, Google is preparing another gem for Nexus devices in the form of a Google Now widget. Google Now is the personal assistant feature that any devices running on Android 4.1 and 4.2 Jelly Bean can benefit from. The feature allows users to instantly check the current weather, receive updated travel information, see sports scores and much more. While Google Now is part of the Google Search app it does not have a widget of its own yet.
According to support docs that were posted on Google’s website, and then later removed, a Google Now widget is currently in development and should be available soon. The documents showed a screenshot of the widget, which looks like a tool divided into three parts. One area for your commute, one just for weather, and another section for stock information. We’re hoping that these areas can be customized by each individual user’s needs.
Google hasn’t confirmed when or how this widget will become available to the public, but our guess is that it will be released out onto the Play Store when they’re good and ready. We’ll keep our eyes peeled and update you as we see this unfold.
