How to Unroot the Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360

Want to unroot your Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360 to turn it in for warranty purpose? No problem, we’ll help you do just that. Once you’ve unrooted your device, your warranty will be reinstated and you should be able to present your device at the service center. So, let’s not waste time and get onto the procedure to unroot your device.

I. Before You Begin:

1. You should have rooted your device using the procedure given here.

2. Your device needs to have at least 70% of battery life left.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Stock Firmware (Download the appropriate firmware for your device)

2. Odin

III. Unrooting the Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360:

1. Place both the archives you downloaded to your Desktop.

2. Extract files from both the archives to your Desktop.

3. Double-click on the Odin executable file and it’ll launch.

4. Click on PDA and select the Stock Firmware file you extracted to your Desktop.

5. Checkmark the boxes that say Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time.

6. Leave the Repartition box unchecked.

7. Turn OFF your device.

8. Reboot the device into Download mode. To do so, simply hold down the Volume DOWN+Home+Power buttons together.

9. Press Volume UP to continue.

10. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable.

11. Hit Start in the Odin and it’ll begin flashing the firmware.

12. Once it’s done, your device will automatically reboot.

13. And you’re all set!

Cheers! Your device’s now back to the stock firmware and has no root access. That simply means your warranty’s been reinstated!

when I actually execute the stockware I downloaded, the program says fail. I dont know why it doesn’t work for me. I dl’ed the stockware for my region but it still doesn’t work, please help me… >.<

    • Mahesh Makvana

It probably is because the file you downloaded is corrupt. Sometimes because of issues with Internet connection, the file gets downloaded as corrupt and hence you can’t extract it.

I’d recommend you to re-download the file and make sure it gets downloaded successfully.

      Hope it helps!

              thaha, try this -

              1. Pull and put the battery back in.
              2. Boot to recovery and do a factory reset (this will delete all your data!)
              3. Wait for the device to reboot and then an additional 10 mins.
              4. Pull and put he battery back in.

              5. Now boot to Download Mode.

Also make sure that you have disabled Kies. Check your Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc on your Windows PC) for any Kies or Kies associated processes and end them before you start the procedure posted above by Mahesh.

I have Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360. I rooted it but now want to unroot it as it has become dead slow. Don’t know why that happened. I am trying to download the firmware but just can’t. Is there any other site where I can get it ? Nothing happens in the samsung-updates site (I tried turning off Adblock too). The Hotfile site is shut down. Where else can I get this firmware ? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
