How to Flash a Custom Recovery on the Samsung Galaxy S3 (NTT DoCoMo)
So you have rooted your Samsung Galaxy S3 (NTT DoCoMo) and now looking for a custom recovery for your device? No problem, we’ve got it for you. A custom recovery is an useful part of an Android device, it lets you format your device even when your device’s not booting up, you can make nandroid backups and flash new ROMs, everything’s possible as long as you have a custom recovery on your device. So in this guide, you’ll learn how to install ClockworkMod Recovery on the Samsung Galaxy S3 (NTT DoCoMo).
I. Before You Begin:
1. You must have rooted your device before doing this procedure. Please head to our Root Guide procedure first, finish it, then return to this procedure and continue.
2. This works on Windows based PCs only.
3. This works for the SC-06D model only.
II. Downloading Required Files:
1. Odin
2. CWM Recovery (Download link’s given in the post #23)
III. Installing ClockworkMod Recovery on the Samsung Galaxy S3 (NTT DoCoMo):
1. Download and place both the files onto your Desktop.
2. Extract files from the Odin archive over to your Desktop.
3. Launch the Odin by double-clicking on its executable file available on your Desktop.
4. Click on PDA and select the CWM Recovery file you downloaded earlier.
5. Checkmark the boxes that say Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time.
6. Leave the Repartition box unchecked, it’s important.
7. Power off your device.
8. Reboot your device into Download mode. To do so, press and hold the Volume DOWN+Home+Power buttons together.
9. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable.
10. Click Start button in the Odin and it should begin flashing the file.
11. Once the file’s been flashed, your device will automatically reboot.
12. And you’re all set!
Excellent! You’ve successfully installed CWM Recovery on your Galaxy S3 and you’re now all ready to start flashing custom ROMs!
