How to Overclock the Samsung Galaxy Note (AT&T)

While the performance of the Samsung Galaxy Note from AT&T might be satisfactory for some users, others might find it a bit slower, mostly the power users. Well, there’s now an easy way out there boost your Galaxy Note’s speed and make it run faster than ever, the process to do so is called Overclocking. Here’s how you can overclock your Samsung Galaxy Note (AT&T):

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must have rooted your device before doing this procedure. Please head to our How to Root the Samsung Galaxy Note (AT&T) procedure and root your device.

2. You must have CWM Recovery installed on your device. Follow our guide on the same to do that.

II. Make a Backup:

1. Head over to the Google Play and download and install the Quick Boot app on your device.

2. Once the app has been installed, open it from your App Drawer.

3. Hit the Recovery option and you will reboot into the Recovery mode.

4. Once in Recovery, select backup and restore followed by backup.

5. It will create a backup of your filesystem and save it on your device.

6. You’re done!

III. Downloading Required Files:

1. PhaseKernel (Download link’s given in the first post)

IV. Flashing the Overclock Kernel on the Samsung Galaxy Note (AT&T):

1. Download and place the PhaseKernel zip onto your Desktop.

2. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable.

3. Copy the Kernel zip over to the root of your SD card.

4. Once the kernel has been copied, disconnect your device from your PC.

5. Open the Quick Boot app from your App Drawer.

6. Hit the Recovery option and you’ll reboot into the Recovery mode.

7. Once there, select install zip from sdcard followed by choose zip from sdcard.

8. Choose the PhaseKernel zip to be flashed on your device.

9. It should take a couple of minutes to finish flashing the zip on your device.

10. Once the flashing’s done, reboot your device.

11. You’re all done!

V. Overclocking the Samsung Galaxy Note (AT&T):

1. Download and install either of these apps on your device:

SetCPU

No-frills CPU Control

2. Once installed, launch the app from your App Drawer.

3. Now drag the slider or use the available option to increase your CPU clock speed. Keep on increasing it as long as your device is comfortable with it.

4. Make sure not to choose save on boot option in the app.

5. Once you’re fine with a specific clock speed, close the app.

6. You’re all set!

Awesome! You’ve successfully overclocked your Galaxy Note smartphone, enjoy the extra speeds of your device!

VI. Reverting Back to the Stock Kernel (Optional):

1. Open the Quick Boot app from your App Drawer.

2. Hit the Recovery option and you’ll reboot into the Recovery mode.

3. Select backup and restore followed by restore.

4. Restore the most recent backup you have there on the list.

5. Once the restoration’s done, reboot your device.

6. You’re all done!

Great! You are now back to the stock kernel and you just lost all your overclocking settings!
