How to Root the Dell Venue
The Dell Venue is an Android smartphone sporting a large 4.1″ inches screen, previously it was known as Dell Thunder. It runs Android 2.2 as its operating system and if you happen to own this device, you’ll definitely be glad to know that your device can now be rooted. Rooting will open up access to a number of root-only apps as well as any custom development that’s been made for your device on various Android forums. Follow the following guide and you will have root-access on your device:
I. Before You Begin:
1. This will void the warranty of your device. However, you can reinstate the warranty by unrooting your device if there’s any unrooting procedure available.
2. This should work on Windows based PCs only.
3. You should have appropriate drivers installed on your PC. If you don’t, download the latest drivers from here.
II. Downloading Required Files:
1. SuperOneClick (It’s attached in the first post)
III. Rooting the Dell Venue:
1. Download and place the SuperOneClick archive on your Desktop.
2. Unzip files from the archive over to your Desktop.
3. Turn ON the USB debugging option on your device by going to Menu>>Settings>>Applications>>Development>>USB debugging.
4. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.
5. Double-click on the SuperOneClick executable file and it’ll open.
6. Click on Root button in the app and it’ll begin rooting your device.
7. Sit back and relax till the app roots your device.
8. Once your device’s been rooted, reboot it.
9. You’re done!
Congratulations! Your Dell Venue device has been successfully rooted and you now have access to hundreds of root-only apps available for your device!
IV. Flash a Custom Recovery Image (Optional):
1. If you would like to flash a custom recovery image in order to flash custom ROMs, head to the How To Flash a Custom Recovery Image on the Dell Venue to learn how to do that.
If this procedure helped you please thank/donate to the original developers here and here.
