How to Unroot the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (Verizon)
Perhaps you’re done playing with root and custom ROMs on your Android device? Regardless of the reason, it’s usually pretty easy to unroot your device and go back to the stock firmware.
Some of the reasons for unrooting your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (Verizon) are:
- Sending in the device for warranty (most, but not all unrooting procedures reinstate the manufacturer warranty if you had one before rooting).
- Starting over (simply undoing everything you did while rooted so you can have a clean slate to start over).
- Fix any issues (Maybe rooting messed something up? No problem, unrooting will take care of it for you).
Ready to get started? Here’s how to unroot the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (Verizon):
I. Before You Begin
1. Your device should have at least 70% of battery life left.
2. This should only work on Windows based PCs.
II. Downloading Required Files
1. Download Odin and save it to your Desktop.
2. Download the appropriate stock firmware for your device and save it to your Desktop.
III. Unrooting the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (Verizon)
1. Extract files from Odin as well as Stock Firmware by right-clicking on each of them and selecting Extract here.
2. Double-click on Odin executable and it’ll launch.
3. Click on PDA and choose the stock firmware available on your Desktop.
4. Uncheck Repartition if it’s already checked in the Odin.
5. Checkmark the boxes that say Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time.
6. Turn OFF your device.
7. Turn it back on by holding down Volume DOWN+Home+Power buttons together.
8. Press Volume UP and you should enter Download mode.
9. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.
10. Hit Start in the Odin and it’ll start flashing the firmware on your device.
11. Once the firmware’s been flashed, your device should automatically reboot.
12. You’re all done!
All set! You are now running stock firmware on your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (Verizon) and have unrooted it.
