Google Wallet: The Way to Pay in the Future?
Google announced the upcoming release of their Android app, Google Wallet, earlier last week. In today’s world most consumers carry three things with them at all times, car keys, a wallet, and of course the cell phone. The Google Wallet concept looks to push this one step further by making your phone also your wallet.
Google is hopeful that in the future the app will be able to hold thousands of cards. Google envisions adding all the major credit card players to the app. The end goal being to make everything in your wallet compatible, for example, loyalty cards, gift cards, and even boarding passes. For now though, Google has confirmed Citi and MasterCard are on board to start.
The exact launch date has yet to be confirmed and Google Wallet will only be available to Sprint’s Nexus S 4G device for launch. Exact participating merchants will also vary depending on location. To read more about Google Wallet or be notified when the app is available click here.
