Telstra Sacrifices Sense UI To Make Room For HTC Desire Gingerbread Update

One short sentence in the midst of a Telstra software update scheduled for August, holds huge potential for HTC Desire owners holding their breath for the Gingerbread update.

Citing lack of internal memory space, HTC threw in the towel on the Gingerbread (Android 2.3) update only to change their minds after user disappointment flooded in. Less than 24 hours after publicly giving up on Gingerbread, HTC gave Desire users new hope that the update would still happen, we just weren’t sure how.

Now it appears Australian based Telstra has chosen a logical solution by creating an update that will not include the Sense UI. This will effectively leave enough internal memory space for the Gingerbread update. Providing the update works in August for our friends in Australia, let’s hope it’s only a short matter of time before we see the solution here in the states.
