Acer had promised the Honeycomb 3.1 update for its tablet, the Iconia Tab A500, which was scheduled to roll out before June was up. June has come and gone, and now almost a week into July, the company has started releasing Android 3.1 to its tablets across the world, which should make many expectant Iconia Tab users happy. But all is not well, as the OTA update is only flying out to some devices currently, with the others in line to get it in a phased manner. The unlucky devices will get an interim update which will bring the Android version on the tablet to 3.0.1 instead of 3.1.
A surefire way to confirm if you have the 3.1 or 3.0.1 update is to check the version number after it is done. If this matches version number 1.41.07, then you are lucky and you now have the Honeycomb 3.1 update. If not, waiting is the only option currently as Acer has revealed that the complete rollout could finish as late as mid August.
