Samsung Galaxy S II coming to AT&T after all, QWERTY keypad part of the deal

Well, would Sammy want to miss out on selling a few more million of its already successful smartphone? We guessed not and BGR has the proof to back us up.  The site has received a few pictures of a device that is reportedly a version of the Galaxy S II for AT&T but with a few modifications, as is usually the case with most phones heading to this side of the pond.  And going by the spot-on record that BGR boasts of, we can take the news at its face value and assume that it will be making its debut on AT&T soon with a new name (we could just call it the SGH-I927, its model number, until then).

Speaking of the modifications, the most obvious of these is the QWERTY keypad which adds ease of use to the equation and knocks down a few points off the style chart, but still manages to give a certain sense of thinness to the device – the back cover has also seen a change and will come with a textured surface, but the 8-megapixel camera and LED flash remains the same as the original Galaxy S II.  One of the pictures also shows the device running Android 2.3.4, in line with the original device’s firmware version.

The handset will supposedly be launched next month on AT&T – sources say that it will be launched by other carriers too around the same time, but that is yet to be substantiated.  We’ll get you more once we know, so keep coming back.
