It looks like we are getting closer and closer to the highly anticipated unveiling of Apple’s next generation iPhone. According to recent All Things D report, Apple is planning to hold their fall event on October 4th. The report continues to detail that new Apple CEO Tim Cook will be taking the wraps off the iPhone 5 without Steve Jobs, although Jobs will most likely be in attendance.

Sources close to All Things D speculate that the plan is to make the device available for purchase within a few weeks after the fall event. We’re betting the iPhone 5 will be ready for purchase within two weeks of the October 4th announcement.
