Android Based Amazon Kindle Fire Tablet Finally Unveiled, Competitive $199 Price Tag
As expected, Amazon took the wraps off its new Android based tablet today, named the Kindle Fire. Priced at a competitive $199, interested consumers can expect Wi-Fi only with no 3G, and the lack of an embedded camera or microphone.
However, with that low price tag comes a 7-inch IPS panel, Gorilla Glass coating, a dual-core CPU and a chassis that weighs 14.6 ounces. Proud owners will have access to the Android App Store, Kindle books, and magazines, all of which will be stored for free via Amazon Cloud Storage.
According to TechCrunch, while the Kindle Fire is obviously Android-based, Amazon definitely took their own creative license with the actual UI. An exact release date for the Kindle Fire tablet has yet to be confirmed, but we’re expecting it to be just in time for the holiday shopping season.
