Gmail App For iPad and iPhone Now Available: Faster Inbox Access, Push Notifications, and Pull-to-Refresh

Google confirmed recent rumors by releasing an official Gmail app designed for iPad and iPhone users. The app promises users a new level of speed that was not previously available through accessing Gmail via a web browser. iOS push notifications flag new messages in real time without having to use Exchange. Additional app features include Priority Inbox, labeling, starring, and spam flags.

iOS users will be able to pull-to-refresh their inbox which makes it easier to check for new mail. Users also can simply swipe to get to the labels without losing position. Photo attachments now sport a more user friendly and native loader, and it’s also possible to open email attachments.

The Gmail app for iPad and iPhone requires iOS 4 or higher and is available now in most countries. You can download it today for free.
