Amazon Kindle Fire to Get Android App Love: Tablet Will Ship With Thousands of Android Apps
Amazon confirmed that their wildly popular Kindle Fire tablet will receive some serious Android app love, in anticipation of the tablet’s scheduled ship date next week. The Kindle Fire will ship with thousands of existing Android apps including popular ones like Netflix, Facebook, Pandora, Twitter and many more. Also included are games from Rovio, Electronics Arts, and Zynga. Besides being able to take advantage of all the goodies Android apps have to offer, lucky new owners of the seven-inch slab will also get access to Amazon’s gigantic library of movies, e-books and digital music.
The device sports a full-color touchscreen with a 1024×600 resolution, a highly customized Android 2.3 platform, and will take full advantage of Amazon’s cloud service. Additional spec highlights include a dual-core, 1GHz TI OMAP processor, and 8GB of integrated storage space.
The Kindle Fire tablet will be available for sale for $200 through Amazon and most major retailers.
