NVIDIA Shows Off Android 4.0 On the ASUS Transformer Prime Tablet
In a short but sweet video clip, NVIDIA demonstrates Android 4.0, otherwise known as Ice Cream Sandwich, on the ASUS Transformer Prime tablet. While the tablet is expected to hit retail stores in December, developers couldn’t wait to start playing around with all the goodies Ice Cream Sandwich had to offer. NVIDIA stands behind Google’s latest platform, which is optimized for both smartphones and tablets alike, by stating that Android 4.0 is extremely open and encourages easy development for the software.
This particular demo video shows off what playing 1080p video looks like on the OS, and what playing a quad-core optimized game. Riptide GP was utilized in this example and illustrates full visual effects and details. These benchmarks were achieved only two days after Google released the Android 4.0 source code out into the wild.
The ASUS Transformer Prime tablet is available now for pre-order, but will not ship Android 4.0 out of the box. We’re hoping an update will follow shortly after the device’s launch.
