Lenovo Confirms Ice Cream Sandwich For ThinkPad Tablet In May
As part of Lenovo’s promise to “future proofing” its devices, it just gave its ThinkPad users another reason to look forward to spring. According to the company, the stylus sporting slab is slated to receive Android 4.0, otherwise known as Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), as an over-the-air update this May.
With ICS, the ThinkPad will see a garden variety mix of improvements including the following:
- Enhanced web browsing experience with the ability to save web pages for offline viewing
- Voice input: allows users to dictate text to the tablet
- Face Unlock: facial recognition feature to unlock the tablet
- User interface, connectivity, application and multimedia improvements
- Improved encryption layers for data and email security
- Enhanced management capabilities: help system administrators better control tablets remotely
The Lenovo ThinkPad currently runs the Android 3.1 OS and retails starting at $479. Launched in July of 2011, the ThinkPad is designed specifically for business users.
