Sprint LG Viper 4G Goes Up for Pre-Order, $99 On Contract with April 22nd Release

As promised, Sprint has thrown their LG Viper 4G up for pre-order today. Granted the Now Network’s LTE coverage isn’t exactly up and running yet, but hey, small details right? Not familiar with the Viper 4G and want to know what it’s all about? Spec highlights include the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS, 1.2GHz dual core processor, 1GB RAM and 4GB ROM, 4-inch 800×480 WVGA display, and a 5MP camera. Sprint users can also look forward to GPS, access to the Play Store, and Sprint ID. Sprint hasn’t said if this handset is slated for a future ICS update, so we’re guessing Gingerbread will have to hold consumers over for the time being.

The Viper 4G is reasonably priced at $99, after a $50 mail-in rebate and with a 2-year contract. For anyone not eligible for an upgrade just yet, you’ll have to cough up the full $400 to call yourself a proud owner. Sprint has confirmed an April 22nd release date, which should please anyone who is pre-ordering today, as you won’t have long to wait for your device to ship. As far as the 4G LTE coverage is concerned, Sprint is expected to launch their LTE coverage in Atlanta, Baltimore, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City and San Antonio during the first half of 2012. If you’re city wasn’t listed, then expect good old 3G coverage.

Interested consumers can visit Sprint’s Viper 4G page to pre-order it now or continue reading below for the full press release.
