How to Root the Galaxy Y Pro (B5510) and the Galaxy Y Pro Duos (B5512)
The Galaxy Y Pro and the Galaxy Y Pro Duos are some really affordable handsets that have a major advantage over other Android phones in their segment – a full QWERTY keypad. In case of the Galaxy Y Pro Duos, users have the added advantage of using two SIMs simultaneously which would make carrying two different devices unnecessary. We’ll show you how to root both of these devices without breaking a sweat in the following guide.
I. Before You Begin
1. You need to have updated drivers from Samsung. You can install these automatically by installing Samsung Kies.
2. There’s no real need to back up anything as this will not need a data wipe, but do so just in case you run into problems.
3. Download the Universal GB Root file.
II. Rooting the Galaxy Y Pro and the Galaxy Y Pro Duos
1. Enable USB Debugging on your device. You can do this by heading to Settings > Applications > USB Debugging and checking the tickbox next to it.
2. Connect your device to the Windows PC.
3. Put your device in USB Storage Mode and copy the universal_gb_root_v15.zip file you downloaded above to the topmost folder on your SD card. You can put your device into this mode by selecting USB Storage when your device prompts you for the type of connection when connected.
4. Disconnect the device and power it down.
5. Put the device into Recovery Mode. To do this, hold Volume Up and the Home buttons simultaneously and press the power button. Now, hold all three buttons until the device boots into Recovery.
6. From the Recovery Menu, select ‘apply update from SD card’. Use Volume Up and Down to navigate and the Home button to select the desired option.
7. Navigate to universal_gb_root_v15.zip and select it by pressing the Home button.
8. Wait until you see the message ‘Install from SD complete’.
9. Select ‘reboot system now’.
Your Galaxy Y Pro or the Pro Duos should be rooted once you reboot the device. Check for the Superuser app in the app drawer or download Root Checker from Google Play to know root status. To take things further, like installing custom ROMs and other things, you might want to flash ClockworkMod Recovery which you can do so by following our guide located here.
All thanks go to StoneBoyTony on XDA for this easy-to-use solution!! We suggest you donate or at the least thank him on the XDA thread if you liked this procedure.

Works like a charm, wowwww lovely, thank you very much 🙂
It fails after step 7. I can select the zip file but it fails to read the zip file or something. An error message comes up but it goes by too fast to read. I’ve tried several different zip files from many websites.
Same here..
My phone is rooted now…This file worked for me…i didn’t do the factory reset and wipe cache as i just wanted to acquire the super user rights. It worked for me and one of my friend also, then by downloading Link2SD app, we could transfer maximum of our apps to SD, and could clear the memory. It has done wonders to our phones. THANKS ALOT TO THE PERSON WHO MADE THIS FILE….
Hey Rakesh,
We’re glad we could help you root your device. Now, enjoy the root-only apps on your device.
We do deserve a “Thank you”, don’t we?
Is this also applicable to galaxy pocket
link to download the GB ROOT FILE IS SHOWING ERROR PLZ update it.
thanks
OMG can’t believe how easily and quickly this worked! Thank you ♥
How much faster than the default 832Mhz did the rooted smartphone achieve?
badaveil, you’ll have to get to know that yourself. I would recommend No-Frllis CPU on the Play Store. But exercise caution as overclocking your device could lead to actual hardware problems!
thank you very much
My galaxy pro duo GT-B5510 fails 2 boot. It stucks on the samsung logo and repeats the same process over and over again… How do I overcome this?

but you don’t need a computer to do that
How? Please, tell us.
You can download the Universal GB Root file straight to your phone without having to use a computer as a middleman.
