How to Flash a Custom Recovery on the HTC One S

In our recent article, we showed you steps to Install Unofficial ClockworkMod Touch Recovery on HTC One S. It was an unofficial release of the CWM recovery and here comes the official release of the same. By installing the official ClockworkMod Recovery on your HTC One S, you are taking a step further into tweaking your phone. You will be able to load custom ROMs into your phone using the CWM recovery and you will get to know about all the features after installing it. Read on to learn how you can install the official CWM recovery on your HTC One S smartphone.

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must have Unofficial ClockworkMod Recovery installed on your phone. If you haven’t done so yet, go here and do it now.

2. This recovery will allow you to load custom ROMs on your phone.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Download Official ClockworkMod Recovery from the official site here.

2. If you need the Touch version of the recovery, then download it from here.

III. Installing Official ClockworkMod Recovery on HTC One S:

1. Place the downloaded files on the Desktop of your PC.

2. Connect your phone to the computer using the USB cable.

3. Transfer the ClockworkMod Recovery file to the SD card storage of your phone. Put it in the topmost folder of SD card.

4. After the file transfer finishes, disconnect your phone from the PC.

5. Turn OFF your smartphone using the Power key.

6. Boot your smartphone into the Bootloader Mode. To do so, just press and hold the Volume DOWN key and then press Power key.

7. From the Bootloader mode, select the Recovery option.

8. You will see a warning triangle, press and hold Volume UP+Power key until it gets into the recovery mode.

9. Choose install zip from sdcard option from the recovery menu.

10. Select choose zip from sdcard option and navigate to the recovery file which you transferred earlier to your phone and select it.

11. Confirm the action by selecting “Yes”.

12. When the installation of CWM recovery is done, select Go back option and then Reboot system now.
