How to Unroot the Galaxy Y Pro (B5510) and the Galaxy Y Pro Duos (B5512)
So you rooted your Galaxy Y Pro or Pro Duos using our guide. But what if you ran into a problem, needed to take it to the service center and had to unroot to avoid breaking your warranty? This guide is just for those times and will show you how to unroot both the Galaxy Y pro and the Pro Duos.
We have an updated procedure for this here. Please head there instead of doing the below procedure.
I. Before You Begin
1. Ensure you have updated drivers from Samsung. You can install these automatically by installing Samsung Kies.
2. This guide only works for those who have used this method of rooting their device; do not try this if you have rooted by any other means.
3. Download the Universal GB Unroot file.
II. Unrooting the Galaxy Y Pro and the Galaxy Y Pro Duos
1. Enable USB Debugging on your device. You can do this by heading to Settings > Applications > USB Debugging and checking the tickbox next to it.
2. Connect your device to the Windows PC.
3. Put your device in USB Storage Mode and copy the universal_gb_unroot_final.zip file you downloaded above to the topmost folder on your SD card. You can put your device into this mode by selecting USB Storage when your device prompts you for the type of connection when connected.
4. Disconnect the device and power it down.
5. Put the device into Recovery Mode. To do this, hold Volume Up and the Home buttons simultaneously and press the power button. Now, hold all three buttons until the device boots into Recovery.
6. From the Recovery Menu, select ‘apply update from SD card’. Use Volume Up and Down to navigate and the Home button to select the desired option.
7. Navigate universal_gb_unroot_final.zip and select it by pressing the Home button.
8. Wait until you see the message ‘Install from SD complete’.
9. Select ‘reboot system now’.
This should effectively remove any trace that you had rooted or otherwise meddled with your phone, but don’t forget to uninstall those root-dependent apps that you installed!!

Hi I was trying to follow your tutorial but the link Universal GB Unroot file is broken therefore no file is found to do it. Please help me and thanks in advance 🙂
The link is now fixed rosendo!! Thanks for the headsup!!
Thanks is really working, is great 🙂 I tested this on my Samsung Galaxy Y Pro B5510L just to see if I could unroot my phone in case I would need that in the future and it worked.
Hi there is just one thing I noticed that when I unroot the phone the app Supersu is still on the phone, eventhough the phone is no longer unrooted after following the procedure on this website. Is there a way to remove the Supersu app?
I am assuming you tried the usual Android way of installing apps? Also, the Superuser app could still be present but you may not necessarily be rooted any longer. Try running an app that requires root and check if you actually have root or lost it
The Supersu app was installed by itself by the tutorial How to root galaxy y pro b5510
The Supesu app
What I did is this first:
I uninstalled every app that required root access by going to Applications–>Manage applications
after that I followed the steps in this guide to remove root access. And then I installed a root checker app the app confirmed that I had no longer root Access to the phone, but the SuperSU app was still there on the pone asking me to update the binaries so it could run as root again.
Then I tried to uninstall this app the usual way by going to Applications–>Manage applications but the uninstall button is disabled within this app, then I restored the phone to factory settings many times and nothing the app won’t go away, I even went to the /system/app folder with es explorer, and tried to manually delete the file Supersu.apk but it would tell me the file cannot be deleted!, I also tried with titanium backup and there was no option to uninstall this app there either, so I then opened an ADB session I tried to delete the Supersu.apk file from the command prompt and got this message del: permission denied. I tried to use the chmod 777 Supersu.apk command and it would say Unable to chmod Supersu.apk: Read-only file system then tried to uninstalled the app by going to the menu of the app and I chose under cleanup each of the options with no positive results the options listed there are:
Reinstall
Cleanup for reinstallation from google play
Switch superuser app
Cleanup to switch to another superuser app
Full unroot
Cleanup for permanent unroot
Each of this options ran with no errors, but the app is still showing in my menu perfectly sitting there among my other apps waiting for someone to open it again so it can regain root access whenever this is lost due to any erasing methods tried on it.
I wish the only thing to be as resistant as this in my phone would be a factory installed app used to track the phone in case is lost, but not an app that I download and installed this is not very good since this not only voids the warranty but makes my phone cheaper now I will have to drop the price even more 🙁 Please help me.
Since I would like to sell the phone I would need to remove this app, I followed the steps here because I was afraid someone could stole my phone before I could get to sell it, and with a rooted phone is harder to erase some security apps that may help recover the phone using GPS
try this procedure. You need a different unistaller, you can find it in the link: http://androidforums.com/y-pro-duos-all-things-root/524475-universal-gingerbread-root-unroot-2-3-3-2-3-7-a.html
I followed the steps on the link you provided and it is doing the same thing. The Supersu app is still there.
Can you answer of my question also please ..
About the warranty it depends on which country you are. If you do not know the advantage of rooting I would not advise you to root your phone, but the advantages of rooting your phone are:
1. You can install programs you would not be able to in any other way.
2. You will have access to the entire hardware of your phone in ways you are not able if the phone is not rooted.
3. You can uninstall any program or application from your phone even the ones given by the factory.
4. You can do a backup of your entire device with certain apps.
But you do not actually need to make a backup of your entire phone if your phone is not rooted because chances are that the phone will do perfectly fine with the backup you get by using the software that came with your phone.
And besides I think if you are worried about your warranty you should better wait until your phone has no warranty because, for instance my phone never came back to factory settings after I rooted my phone, I have not found a way to erase the files and apps created at the moment of rooting the phone, and the most annoying thing is that the program that came with the rooting procedure has adds when you open it.
My mobile is new it samsung galaxy y pro duos about 1 month I m using. I have rooted it. First of all can you tell me what is the advantage of rooting. And then if I will unroot this will my warranty will come back or not ??
hello, i just followed the guide here to root samsung galaxy y pro (GTB-5510) and i successfully rooted it, and I got the superSU app, then I unrooted it (due to it’s too risky to root but tried ‘coz of curiosity) but the app remains on it, i can’t uninstall the superSU app, please help. thanks
We’re glad we could help you root and unroot your device.
If you can’t uninstall the app, let it be there on your device, it doesn’t hurt !
hello, thanks for all your tips & tricks. I wish to know is it possible to upgrade GT-B5512 to Android 4.0?
pls reply, thanks in advance
Hello Anand,
It is possible to update to Android 4.0 via custom ROMs, but the Galaxy Y series is weak in the departments of CPU and RAM, so you are better off running a better (and faster) version of Gingerbread than a laggy ICS ROM
Since the processor and RAM of your device aren’t sufficient to run the ICS properly, you’ll face lag issues while running an ICS ROM. The homescreens won’t swipe as smooth in ICS as they swipe in GB and there’ll be some other issues as well.
I’d suggest you to stick to the GB ROM and enjoy the apps available for it !
Thanks Anand !!
Hello, I’d like to know if it is possible to format my Galaxy Y Pro without unrooting it. Thanks!
Yes, you can format your phone without unrooting it. You just need to boot up your phone into the CWM Recovery mode and you’ll find the option to format your phone there.
