A writer named Luke Hopewell at Gizmodo Australia, claims to have seen a training document of a new tablet that Google and ASUS will be announcing shortly.

He says the device will be called the Nexus 7 and it will a 7 inch tablet (wonder how they came up with that name?) with a 1.3ghz quad-core Tegra 3 processor, a GeForce 12-core GPU, and 1 GB of RAM. It will have an IPS display with a 178-degree viewing angle (good for sharing) and a 1280×800 resolution and will sport NFC, Google Wallet, Android Beam, a 1.2 MP camera on the front, and 9 hours of usage time.

All that is great in itself, but the real amazing part is the prices he revealed. Hopewell says the device will come in an 8GB and 16GB version and will cost $199 and $249 respectively. A quad-core powered tablet for $199? Yes please.

Hopefully we’ll see this device proven to be a reality in the next few days at Google’s I/O conference on the 27th.
