Sony Confirms Xperia Arc S and Mini Pro Handsets Will Not Receive Jelly Bean Update

In a recent announcement, Sony confirmed that the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update will not make its way to Xperia Arc S or Mini Pro owners. Sony took to their Facebook page to break the news, simply announcing that the phones won’t receive the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system. Here’s what Sony had to say in response to an inquisitive consumer:

“Unfortunately Arc S won’t be getting the Jelly Bean update,” Sony product manager John Cooper posted on Sony’s Facebook page, “but we’re always developing new phones and making sure they get the latest updates.”

This decision could indicate that Sony may choose not to upgrade any of its 2011 smartphones to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Sadly, that decision would affect anyone who purchased either the Xperia Active, Neo V, Live with Walkman, or Xperia Mini.

Currently, Sony claims that it is still in the process of reviewing which handsets are best for the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update.
