How to Root the LG Phoenix on Froyo

Want to get rid of the bloatware that AT&T has loaded on your LG Phoenix smartphone? Want to free-up some space by removing unnecessary system apps from your device? Either way, this guide will help you. It teaches how you can root your LG Phoenix so you can have the ability to remove any system apps as well as customize the device the way you want. It’ll also open doors for a custom recovery, if you wish to flash one. So without further ado, let’s see how to root the LG Phoenix.

I. Before You Begin:

1. This will void the warranty of your device. However, you can reinstate the warranty by unrooting your device provided an unroooting procedure’s available there.

2. You must be running Android 2.2 Froyo in order for this procedure to work.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. GingerBreak (Download link’s given in the first post, in step-2)

III. Rooting the LG Phoenix on Froyo:

1. Download and place the GingerBreak APK file onto your Desktop.

2. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable so you can transfer files fro and to your device.

3. Copy the GingerBreak APK file over to the root of your SD card.

4. Once the file’s been copied, unplug your device from your PC.

5. Now on your device, dial the following number just like you dial any phone number:

3845#*505#

6. Scroll down until you see the Unknown Sources Test option, put a checkmark next to it.

7. Enable the USB debugging option on your device by heading to Menu>>Settings>>Applications>>Development>>USB debugging.

8. Open the File Manager app on your device and install the APK you copied earlier to your device.

9. Once it’s been installed, launch it from your App Drawer.

10. Hit Root button in the app and it’ll start rooting your device.

11. You should be rooted within a few seconds.

12. Once it’s done, reboot your device.

13. You’re all set!

Excellent! Your device’s been successfully rooted and you can confirm the same by downloading and installing the Root Checker app on your device.
