How to Undervolt the Asus Transformer TF700
The only issue that I see with Android devices is battery drains out very quickly and it’s a painful thing if you travel a lot and maybe don’t have a place to charge your device. With modding like Undervolting, you can help your device last a bit longer and doing so is actually a hassle-free task. Here’s how you can undervolt your Asus Transformer TF700 device:
I. Before You Begin:
1. You must have rooted your device before doing this procedure. Check out our How to Root the Asus Transformer TF700 procedure first to root your device.
2. You must have CWM Recovery installed on your device. If you followed our root guide above, you have it already.
II. Make a Backup:
1. Head over to the Google Play and download and install the Quick Boot app on your device.
2. Open the app from your App Drawer.
3. Hit the Recovery option and you will reboot into the Recovery mode.
4. Once inside Recovery, select backup and restore followed by backup.
5. Create a backup of your entire filesystem and save it on your device.
6. You’re done!
III. Downloading Required Files:
1. That4 Kernel (Download link’s given in the post #247)
IV. Flashing the Undervolt Kernel on the Asus Transformer TF700:
1. Place the Kernel zip on your Desktop.
2. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.
3. Copy the That4 Kernel zip over to the root of your SD card.
4. Once it’s been copied, unplug your device from your PC.
5. Open the Quick Boot app from your App Drawer.
6. Hit the Recovery option and you’ll reboot into the Recovery mode.
7. Once there, select install zip from sdcard followed by choose zip from sdcard.
8. Choose the Kernel zip to be flashed on your device.
9. It should take a couple of minutes to finish flashing the file.
10. Once the flashing’s done, reboot your device.
11. You’re all done!
V. Undervolting the Asus Transformer TF700:
1. Download and install either of these apps on your device:
2. Once installed, open the app from your App Drawer.
3. Now change the Voltage settings and keep on doing so as long as your device doesn’t crash.
4. Make sure not to choose save on boot option in the app.
5. Once your device becomes stable at a specific voltage, close the app.
6. You’re all set!
Brilliant! You’ve successfully undervolted your device and you’ll now get a bit of extra battery life on your device!
VI. Reverting Back to the Stock Kernel (Optional):
1. Open the Quick Boot app from your App Drawer.
2. Tap the Recovery option and you will reboot into the Recovery mode.
3. Once in Recovery, select backup and restore followed by restore.
4. Choose the most recent backup you have there to be restored on your device.
5. It will begin restoring the backup on your device.
6. Once the backup’s been restored, reboot your device.
7. You’re done!
Great! You’ve successfully reverted back to the stock kernel with no undervolting!
