How to Root the Kindle Fire HD running 11.3.1

Did you just update your Kindle Fire HD to the latest 11.3.1 and wondering where the root-access gone? It’s gone, but not for ever. The XDA devs have found out a way to gain root-access on this newer version of firmware and if this is what you were waiting for, the guide below is all you need. It shows how you can root your Kindle Fire HD on the aforementioned firmware version and enjoy the privileges you had before. And here you go:

I. Before You Begin:

1. This will void the warranty of your device. However, you can reinstate the warranty by unrooting your device if there’s any unrooting procedure available.

2. Make sure your device has at least 30% of battery life left.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Root Script (It’s attached in the first post)

2. Superuser APK (Extract the attached archive and you’ll find the APK in /system/app/ folder)

III. Rooting the Kindle Fire HD running 11.3.1:

1. Download and place both the files onto your Desktop.

2. Extract files from Root Script archive over to your Desktop.

3. Enable the USB debugging option on your device by heading to Menu>>Settings>>Developer options>>USB debugging.

4. Once it’s been enabled, plug in your device to your PC via USB cable.

5. Double-click on runme.bat available on your Desktop and it’ll launch.

6. It’ll automatically start rooting your device, be patient.

7. Once you’re rooted, install the Superuser APK you downloaded earlier to your Desktop.

8. You’re all done!

Awesome! Your Kindle Fire HD has been successfully rooted and you’re now all set to enjoy the third-party development available for your device!

If this procedure helped you please thank/donate to the original developers here.

  1. this doesn’t work. When you try to do it, the cmd freezes on *Daemon started succesfully* if you try to download drivers it just makes the cmd freeze on “Please connect the device with enabled USB-Debugging on Computer”

  2. Guys above me, I haven’t tried this yet. I have a mac, so I’m about to start converting this to a bash script. If I find out what this script is missing I’ll post here

  3. i would LOVE if someone has a MAC version (i’m on Mac OS 10.7.5) as everything i see online is for PC.

any help, please contact me or post here 🙂

  4. this didn’t work the first time i tried. i was getting stuck on the daemon line like others. i tried a different method i saw on youtube, and that didn’t work either. then i tried this again and it just worked. the key might be the drivers. i was messing around unistalling the drivers in device manager then unplugging the kindle and plugging it back in. i did this in different combinations with adb turned on and off on the kindle. idk if that’s it but you might try if it’s not working for you.
