How to Root the Alcatel One Touch 990 running Froyo
Want to root your Alcatel One Touch 990 running Android 2.2 Froyo? No problem, here’s how you can do that. Rooting will rejuvenate your device and you’ll be able to load your favorite root-only apps on your device, flash a custom recovery and even change your current firmware. Here’s how:
I. Before You Begin:
1. This will void the warranty of your device. However, you can reinstate the warranty by unrooting your device if there’s any unrooting procedure available.
2. You should have appropriate drivers installed on your PC.
3. This works on Windows based PCs only.
II. Downloading Required Files:
1. SuperOneClick (It’s attached in the first post)
III. Rooting the Alcatel One Touch 990 running Froyo:
1. Download and place the SuperOneClick archive onto your Desktop.
2. Unzip files from the archive over to your Desktop.
3. Enable the USB debugging option on your device by heading to Menu>>Settings>>Applications>>Development>>USB debugging.
4. Once it’s been enabled, connect your device to your PC via USB cable.
5. Double-click on the SuperOneClick executable file and it’ll launch.
6. Hit the Root button and it’ll root your device
7. You’re all done!
Brilliant! Your device has been successfully rooted on Froyo and you’re now free to customize your device in whatever way you want!
IV. Flash a Custom Recovery Image (Optional):
1. If you would like to flash a custom recovery image in order to flash custom ROMs, head to the How To Flash a Custom Recovery Image on the Alcatel One Touch 990 to learn how to do that.
