How to Clear Notifications Cache in Windows 8

Windows 8 caches all of your notifications and saves them on your hard-drive. So when you log in the next time, it doesn’t have to load the notifications from scratch. But sometimes this causes issues, like notifications being stuck on your screen. Well, an easy solution is available for this and the guide below demonstrates it.

I. Clearing Notifications Cache in Windows 8:

1. Open the Run dialog box by pressing Windows Logo+R keys together.

2. Type in gpedit.msc and hit Enter.

3. Navigate to the following directory in Group Policy Editor:

User Configuration>>Administrative Templates>>Start Menu and Taskbar

4. Double-click on the entry labeled as Clear history of tile notifications on exit in the right-hand side.

5. Set it to Enabled and hit Apply.

6. Now open the Run dialog box once again by hitting Windows Logo+R keys together.

7. Type in following command into the box and hit Enter:

gpupdate /force

gpupdate forced
Type in the above mentioned command and hit Enter

8. And you’re done!

Excellent! Now each time you log off on your PC, all your notifications cache will be cleared. This will result in better performance of your PC!
