How to Flash a Custom Recovery on the T-Mobile G-Slate
If you haven’t flashed a custom recovery on your T-Mobile G-Slate yet, then you’re missing a lot on customization options available to you. With a custom recovery like ClockworkMod, you’re allowed to flash ROMs and Mods that can’t be flashed with just root-access. Here’s our procedure that outlines how you can flash a custom recovery on your T-Mobile G-Slate:
I. Before You Begin:
1. You must have rooted your device before doing this procedure. Please head to our How to Root the T-Mobile G-Slate procedure first, finish it, then return to this procedure and continue.
2. Your device should have at least 60% of battery life left.
3. This procedure works on Windows based PCs only.
II. Downloading Required Files:
1. ClockworkMod Recovery (Download link’s available in the Downloads section)
2. Fastboot
III. Flashing a Custom Recovery on the T-Mobile G-Slate:
1. Place both files you downloaded to your Desktop.
2. Extract files from both the archives over to your Desktop.
3. Turn ON the USB debugging function on your device by heading to Menu>>Settings>>Applications>>Development>>USB debugging.
4. Once it’s been enabled, connect your device to your PC using the USB cable.
5. Launch a Command Prompt Window on your Desktop. To do so, simply hold down the Shift button and right-click anywhere on your Desktop and choose Open command window here.
6. Type in following command into the Command Prompt Window:
adb reboot bootloader
7. Your device should reboot into the bootloader mode.
8. Now issue the following command using Command Prompt Window:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
9. It should flash the recovery on your device.
10. Once the recovery’s been flashed, reboot your device.
11. And you’re done!
Brilliant! You’ve successfully flashed a custom recovery on your T-Mobile G-Slate. You’re now ready to flash custom ROMs available out there for your device!
