How to Flash a Custom Recovery on the Motorola Fire XT

Root access allows installation of root-only apps whereas a custom recovery lets you flash custom ROMs on your device. With the combo of both of these, you can take your customizations to a greater extent. The Motorola Fire XT has been blessed with CWM Recovery and if you happen to own this device and have rooted it, the procedure below is all you need to get the CWM Recovery up and running on your device.

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must have done our How to Root the Motorola Fire XT procedure.

2. This works on Windows based PCs only.

3. Your device should have at least 60% of battery life left.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Boot Menu (It’s attached in the first post)

III. Flashing a Custom Recovery on the Motorola Fire XT:

1. Place the Boot Menu archive onto your Desktop.

2. Unzip files from the archive over to your Desktop.

3. Turn ON the USB debugging option on your device by heading to Menu>>Settings>>Applications>>Development>>USB debugging.

4. Once it’s been enabled, plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.

5. Now double-click on the file named Bootmenu Installer.bat available on your Desktop.

6. Follow the on-screen instructions to flash recovery on your device.

7. And you’re all set!

Excellent! The CWM Recovery has been successfully flashed on your Fire XT and you can download the Quick Boot app to boot into the same!
