How to Overclock the Samsung Galaxy Note
If you think your Samsung Galaxy Note phablet is underestimated by its manufacturer and it could provide much better speeds than what it’s been setup to provide, then you’re right. With things like overclocking, you can realize the true power of your device that was hidden in the device and get the most out of it. Here’s how you can overclock your Samsung Galaxy Note:
I. Before You Begin:
1. You must have rooted your device before doing this procedure. Check out our How to Root the Samsung Galaxy Note procedure to root your device.
2. You must have CWM Recovery installed on your device. See our guide on the same to do that.
II. Make a Backup:
1. Head over to the Google Play and get the Quick Boot app installed on your device.
2. Once it’s been installed, launch it from your App Drawer.
3. Hit the Recovery option and your device will reboot into the Recovery mode.
4. Once there, select backup and restore followed by backup.
5. It’ll create a nandroid backup and save it on your device.
6. You’re done!
III. Downloading Required Files:
1. HydraCore Kernel (Download link’s available in the first post)
IV. Flashing the Overclock Kernel on the Samsung Galaxy Note:
1. Download and place the HydraCore Kernel onto your Desktop.
2. Connect your device to your PC via USB cable.
3. Copy the Kernel zip over to the root of your SD card.
4. Once the Kernel has been copied, unplug your device from your PC.
5. Launch the Quick Boot app from your App Drawer.
6. Tap the Recovery option to reboot your device into Recovery mode.
7. Once inside Recovery, select install zip from sdcard followed by choose zip from sdcard.
8. Choose the HydraCore Kernel zip you copied earlier to be flashed on your device.
9. It’ll begin flashing the kernel on your device and once it’s done, reboot your device.
10. You’re done!
V. Overclocking the Samsung Galaxy Note:
1. Download and install either of these apps on your device:
2. Once installed, open the app from your App Drawer.
3. Increase your CPU clock speed using options available in the app. Keep on doing so as long as your device’s comfortable with it.
4. Make sure not to choose save on boot option in the app.
5. Once you’re fine with a specific clock speed, close the app.
6. You’re all set!
Excellent! Your Samsung Galaxy Note has been successfully overclocked. Go make some use of it!
VI. Reverting Back to the Stock Kernel (Optional):
1. Open the Quick Boot app from your App Drawer.
2. Tap the Recovery option and you should reboot into the Recovery mode.
3. Once in Recovery, select backup and restore followed by restore.
4. Choose the most recent backup you have there on the list and it’ll begin restoring it.
5. Once the backup’s been restored, reboot your device
6. You’re all done!
Brilliant! You’ve successfully reverted back to the stock kernel losing all the overclocking settings!
