How to Overclock the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0
No matter how good an Android device is, flashaholics would always want to get some more out of their devices. While rooting and a custom recovery has already been flashed to the Galaxy Player 5.0, here comes the overclocking kernel for the device. Overclocking might sound strange to some users, well, it’s a process to make your CPU run faster than its default speed and the guide below covers how you can overclock your Galaxy Player 5.0 device. So follow it and get some extra speeds out of your current device:
I. Before You Begin:
1. You must have rooted your device before you do this procedure. Check out our How to Root the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 procedure first and root your device.
2. You must have CWM Recovery installed on your device. See our guide on the same to do that.
II. Make a Backup:
1. Head over to the Google Play and download and install the Quick Boot app on your device.
2. Once the app’s been installed, open it from your App Drawer.
3. Tap on Recovery option and you’ll reboot into the Recovery mode.
4. Once in Recovery, select backup and restore followed by backup.
5. Create a backup of your entire filesystem and save it on your device.
6. You’re done!
III. Downloading Required Files:
1. ACKernel (Download the appropriate kernel from the first post)
IV. Flashing the Overclock Kernel on the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0:
1. Place the ACKernel zip onto your Desktop.
2. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.
3. Copy the Kernel zip over to the root of your SD card.
4. Once the kernel has been copied, unplug your device from your PC.
5. Open the Quick Boot app from your App Drawer.
6. Hit the Recovery option to reboot your device into Recovery mode.
7. Once in Recovery, select install zip from sdcard followed by choose zip from sdcard.
8. Choose the ACKernel zip to be flashed on your device.
9. It’ll begin flashing the kernel on your device, shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to finish.
10. Once the kernel has been flashed, reboot your device.
11. You’re done!
V. Overclocking the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0:
1. Download and install either of these apps on your device:
2. Once installed, launch the app from your App Drawer.
3. Use available options in the app to increase your CPU clock speed. Keep on doing so as long as your device doesn’t crash.
4. Make sure not to choose save on boot option in the app as it may lead to crash of your device.
5. Once your device becomes stable at a specific clock speed, close the app.
6. You’re all done!
Excellent! You’ve successfully overclocked your Galaxy Player 5.0 and you’re all ready to experience blazing faster speeds on your device!
VI. Reverting Back to the Stock Kernel (Optional):
1. Launch the Quick Boot app from your App Drawer.
2. Hit the Recovery option to reboot your device into Recovery mode.
3. Once inside Recovery, select backup and restore followed by restore.
4. Choose the most recent backup you have there on the list to be restored on your device.
5. It’ll begin restoring the backup on your device and once it’s done, reboot your device.
6. You’re all done!
Congrats! You’re now back to the stock kernel and there’s no support for overclocking in this stock kernel!
