Amazon Rumored To Launch Gaming Device Later This Year
Online giant Amazon is always cooking up their next big thing to stay in line with the competition and this time rumor has them working on a game console. According to Game Informer, sources close to the project claim that the device is slated for a release later this year. We’re assuming that Amazon is developing a device that would be in the same niche as existing Android gaming devices like the Ouya. It seems unlikely that Amazon would release a gaming device in the same category as Sony’s PlayStation 4 or Microsoft’s Xbox One.
The sources claim that the device should be ready just in time for Black Friday of this year. The console is expected to have its own dedicated controller and would most likely run on the same version of Google’s Android operating system that the Kindle Fire devices run on.
While Amazon products are highly popular with consumers an internet-connected console would provide the company with another avenue to grow its video and music products, in turn generating more revenue.
Pricing is still unknown at this time.
