How to Flash a Custom Recovery on the Sony Xperia SP

With root-access comes power to customize your device the way you want to. If you’ve rooted your Xperia SP smartphone, you have a number of ways to customize your device. You can flash a custom recovery, then flash mods and ROMs, etc. The guide below shows how you can flash a custom recovery on your Xperia SP to get some cool custom ROMs up and running on your device. Here you go:

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must be rooted before you can do this procedure. Please head to our How to Root the Sony Xperia SP procedure first, finish it, then return to this procedure and continue.

2. This works on Locked Bootloader only.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. CWM Recovery (Download link’s available in the first post)

III. Flashing a Custom Recovery on the Sony Xperia SP:

1. Download and place the CWM Recovery archive on your Desktop.

2. Extract files from the archive over to your Desktop.

3. Turn ON the USB debugging option on your device by going to Menu>>Settings>>Developer options>>USB debugging.

4. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.

5. Double-click on Install.bat you extracted earlier from the CWM archive.

6. Follow the on-screen instructions.

7. And you’re all set!
